CrossWalk (50 Men) Update

Things are finally moving along! Praise the Lord!
Two items of note:
1. The areas of our neighborhood focus have been generally established. This is good news because this was the hurdle we were waiting to clear. If you have signed up, you will be hearing from Greg Pilcher shortly to find out where these areas of focus will be.
2. The times of our focus have also been generally agreed upon. Each Friday & Saturday the men of CrossWalk will take to the streets in one or two hour shifts (each shift will enlist a new team) from 12 noon to 2 am. So we really need more men so we can cover these shifts with enough guys.

We need 50 men!!!

to help take back
the streets of Indianapolis.
Here's the deal:
"In a nutshell, we need 50 men that can give a 1 - 2 hour time commitment per week plus travel time."

Greetings to you all in the name of our triune God,
We have been asked assist the city of Indianapolis via Special Forces. Many of you were there one month ago when Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi talked to us about ‘taking back the streets’ from the crime and fear that pervade them now. Today, a number of the Special Forces met with the Prosecutor and Marion County Law Enforcement Officials to finalize many of the details that were talked about that morning.
Now we need you so that we can get to work!
HOW?
In a nutshell, we need 50 men that can give a 1 - 2 hour time commitment per week plus travel time. Where you’ll go and what you’ll do are things that are covered briefly in minutes from that meeting from John Schmidler you can find by linking back here to College Park's Special Forces webpage.
PLEASE NOTE:
There will be a training meeting in July [tentatively: July 14th at 9 am at the Marion Cty Prosecutor’s Office] you will be required to attend if you are interested in joining this effort.

If you are interested or would like information, please contact Greg Pilcher at:

or call the church office at 875-0282.

PS: You can leave your comments and or info for me via the comments link below as well.

Thank you so much for considering this valuable kingdom-building mission!

What Can Special Forces do?

Special Forces should sound a lot like the the men that Jehovah God selected to defend Israel against the invaders from the east a few thousand years ago. Gideon was the reluctant leader of an army that originally numbered about 32,000 men. Those men who trembled with fear at the prospect of defending the defenseless were allowed to quit the army, reducing the number to 10,000. God still thought that was too large an army and he did not desire an Isaralite victory in battle to be attributed to the men's own strength and valor. So he winnowed the army down to 300 men to defend Israel against the massive Midianite army. God brought about a great victory without the Israelites having to lift a finger. The Midianites killed off themselves as they turned on each other.
That's us today - turning on each other.
We need help in this city.
So I have a question. Can Special Forces be like that meager band of 300 who will break with the culture of death and hatred and instead of turning against one another, will turn toward and embrace and support one another. No matter what race or religion or background or life experience, will a few men humble themselves and pray and seek the face of God in the name of the only Savior of this planet, Jesus, the Jew from Nazereth? Can a group like Special Forces take their places as Jesus' representatives as the servant of all in Indianapolis.
Can you turn dark, dangerous streets into avenues of opportunity?
On the dangerous street corners, in strife torn homes, whereever people are that do not know God's love and are vulnerable and defenseless? I rejoice that you all are rising up not in might or power but by God's spirit. May Indianapolis see that the real Christ, who was killed on account of our hatred and wickedness and assault against God and his creation, is the risen Christ who lives and reigns and has conquered death once and for all.
Can this be a start to some good news in our town which will dominate all the bad news?
Let me know - I've been pretty set on thinking that nothing's going to change - please bring to our town something that gives us hope.
